Depression and Binge Eating Linked in Teen Girls

A recent study which has been published in the Journal of Adolescent Health has demonstrated the possible connection between depression and binge eating among teenage girls.  In this study, which took place over a duration of four-years, findings have shown that teen girls who are depressed are twice as likely to binge eat or overeat.  The implications of this study are significant in that they substantiate the idea that adolescents who may develop an eating disorder are dealing with feelings of depression-a reminder that eating disorders are about feelings, and not food.
